Unicompartmental Knee Replacement

Oxford Model

This type of mini-invasive knee replacement is for patients with significant pain from arthritis in only one part of their knee (usually the medial or “inside” part, although the outside part can also be replaced, as can the knee-cap part of the joint.). It is easier to recover from than conventional knee replacement.

These “uni” knees, also known as “partial knee replacements”, have demonstrated excellent results in scientific studies. Certainly, in the appropriate patient, they can last a long time and provide excellent relief, with a less invasive surgery.
